It's only fitting

I love Harry Potter and I have no qualms about admitting it.  At midnight, I'm going to see Deathly Hallows part 1 and I couldn't be more excited. Since the friend I'm going with is dressing up, I feel comfortable dressing up as well. (Plus, I went to a Harry Potter theme party at a bar this weekend.) Really, I have no shame. The question is, who to dress up as?

Which HP Kid Are You?

Hermione it is.  I left my hair dryer at my boyfriend's apartment this weekend and as a result I had to let my hair air dry, so I already have half of my Hermione costume down! The rest I will have to figure out later, but I bet you a six-pack of Butterbeer and a fifth of Firewhiskey that there will be a picture on here later!

Since I only just started this whole blogging venture, does anyone know if there is any way for me to post from my Blackberry? I know you can update Livejournal via text message, but this is the big time.  This is Blogger. I guess I can fiddle with the browser on my phone later when the time comes.  Of course my camera takes better pictures than my phone camera, so if I can't do it from the theater it might be for the best.  Oh Muggles and their silly technology!

I apologize in advance (take this as a warning, it is one!) for the insane amount of Harry Potter quizzes that I will take today.  But can I just say that I never thought of myself as a Hermione before.  But I guess it makes sense because I am a pretty big nerd.  Huge confidence? Maybe not, but I'm definitely more confident as I used to be, which is something I attribute maybe 15% to my college education and 85% to my college education at a women's college.  Just something to think about.

I feel a change in color coming on

Pink is my favorite color, at least I think it is. I haven't taken a quiz that told me that yet, but I love pink.  That's why I started this blog as pink.  But is pink the right color?

Your Blog Should Be Orange

Your writing has a star quality - it's charming, bold, and flamboyant.

You write what's on your mind, without fear of embarrassment later.

You are one of the most honest bloggers around, and people appreciate your daring persona.

NO!!! Guess I messed up! So I'm going to take this as a sign.  I can't really say that I'm going to learn about myself by taking quizzes if I'm not going to listen to the results! So I'm going to figure out how to make my blog orange.

Orange is cool.  It was my favorite color in middle school, when I decided that pink was too girly.  But eventually I decided that girly was okay and warmed back up to pink.  Apparently that was a mistake, at least as far as my blog is concerned.

The Argyle Test

Since I have a preppy name, I might as well go with that for now. I love argyle. That's probably the preppiest thing about me. And this stuck out to me. So what does my argyle image of choice say about me?

You Are Sensible

You are a down to earth and practical person. You don't get caught up in flights of fancy.

You try to look at all sides of something cooly and rationally. You make prudent decisions.

You are always aware and informed. You rather know all the facts, even if they're hard to swallow.

You are together and wise. People can rely on you to be the voice of reason.
Blogthings: Take a Quiz. Annoy Your Friends.

What do I have to say about what my argyle selection says about me? Bologna. I mean it sure is flattering, but I don't see myself as being sensible whatsoever.  I don't make prudent decisions.  I don't make decisions period. At least I avoid decision making like I avoid high fructose corn syrup.  And my college graduation project depends on my resolve to stay away from processed garbage.

I do try to be aware and informed.  Ignorance is not bliss, even if knowing about dolphin slaughter in Japan or genetic modification of our food supply that they don't have to label gives me a heavy heart.  If we don't know about these things, we can't do anything to stop them.

Okay, so maybe I can embrace this result.  Guess this quiz new more about me than I knew about myself, which is the point of all this, right? Ta-da.  I just learned a little bit more about myself.  So there, this isn't a waste of time!

What argyle print do you like?
What quiz should I take next?

What's Your Preppy Name?

When I signed up for my Blogger account, it told me I needed a display name.  Well I have a real name already and it knows my real name, but apparently that's not good enough. So what am I to do? Well according to my philosophy behind this blog, I need to take a quiz. http://www.blogthings.com/ has way too many quizzes about names (see this list  if you don't believe me.) There were a lot that appealed to me and I wanted something that relates to my interests, like Jane Austen Inspired, Vampire, or 80s names. But I went for a preppy name instead.

Your Preppy Name Is: Goodloe Bentley Wharton the Fifth

But most people know you as Kitty
Blogthings: A Fine Line Between Insight and Stupidity

This might seem like a pretty random choice, except that I'm reading True Prep: It's a Whole New Old World by Lisa Birnbach with Chip Kidd. I may be only 15 pages in, but it's hilarious.  My life is nothing like this.  My name isn't Muffy and my boyfriend isn't named Duncan.  I don't have a maid (even though I sure could use one!) And well that's about as far as I've gotten so far.  But I'd be lying if I said I didn't want all of these things. In fact, I wish I had a yacht and everyone I knew dressed in Lacoste on my yacht.  Okay, so realistically it wouldn't be my yacht, but it would be my dad's.  Or should I say, Daddy's.

So for now, I'm going to be Goodloe Bentley Wharton the Fifth. What about you? What's your preppy name? Take the quiz, and by take the quiz I mean type in your name and check male or female, and post your results in the comments.  Then we can revel in our make-believe preppiness.
